Top Chef: Just Desserts, Ssn 1

Product Description

Bravo’s sweetest new series, Top Chef Just Desserts — a spin-off of the popular Emmy Award-nominated and James Beard Award-winning “Top Chef” gives chefs the chance to have their cake and make it too as the main focus of this competition is the collective Achilles heel of most chefs: desserts!

Top pastry chefs will see if they have what it takes to out flamb√©, out-frost and out-fudge the competition. “Top Chef” judge Gail Simmons will serve as the host alongside head judge and celebrated pastry chef Johnny Iuzzini. Likewise, the show will also feature judges Hubert Keller, critically acclaimed chef of the world-renowned restaurant Fleur de Lys, and Dannielle Kyrillos, DailyCandy editor-at-large.

Whether it’s wedding cakes or flaming desserts, chocolate masterpieces or edible fashion these chefs will prove that a little sugar and spice never tasted so nice.

  1. 90% of show time given to one contestant? I am a fan of Top Chef.Well, sort of.See, Top Chef itself went through a bit of a rebirth a few years ago. Around 2010-2013, the show went through a deep, dark period of being terrible. Fake drama, mean girls, nasty twists, and as far removed from cooking as was…

  2. The Underbelly of Humanity on Display for an Exhausting Experience I’m quite used to seeing fierce competition in all its manifestations on Top Chef (have watched every season), but I’ve never felt so exhausted from watching such mentally unstable, nasty people as I’ve seen on Season 1 of Just Desserts. Nothing against Gail Simmons and the other judges, the screening of contestants being an unpredictable process. I ended up literally skipping to the end of the season to see who won so I could put this season to rest, which I’ve never done before on any…

  3. Doing a spin off of Top Chef with the same format but dealing with pastry and desserts is a no brainer. And this first season is exceptional. Everything about it works. It is in no way a Top Chef wannabe. You won’t watch this missing Padma or Tom. For instead you get Gail and Johnny. Gail Simmons has been a staple on Top Chef as a judge from the very beginning and her experience, class, personality and charisma plus her being a fan favorite made her the perfect choice for host. And…
